They were there for ELA! – ambassadors and big-hearted footballers

On Saturday 8 June, the Jos Haupert stadium in Niederkorn was decked out in ELA’s colours.

To mark its centenary celebrations, FC Progrès organised a gala match in aid of the association. The “All Stars by ELA” team, led by Jeff Strasser and Louis Saha, was made up of Jeff Strasser, Louis Saha, Nuno Gomes, William Gallas, Michaël Ciani, Arnaud Elonga, Philipp and David Degen, Mbo MPenza, Gregory Proment, Benjamin Nivet, Laurent Agouazi, Sébastien Renouard and Julien Quercia.

Gilles Muller (tennis) and Kim Kirchen (cycling), ELA Luxembourg ambassadors, were also part of the team.

2 Wear Your Trainers at School ambassadors, Joris Toril and Maxime Gaiccio, had the chance to take part in the match, as did the 2 winners of the Teqball tournament held earlier in the day. They should remember it for a long time.

Everyone came to proudly carry ELA’s colours on a day dedicated to solidarity.

The unpredictable weather all week finally improved for the kick-off of the curtain-raiser, which saw the ELA under-13s win 2-0.

At 6 pm, under a brilliant sun, the gala match kicked off. The ELA team won it 6-2. But the result mattered little. This operation put ELA in the spotlight and raised public awareness of leukodystrophies.

Thank you to FC Progrès Niederkorn and all the volunteers mobilised, essential players in the success of this operation.

Thank you to all the participants, partners and supporters.

Thank you to all the ambassadors who made themselves available despite extremely busy schedules.

Thank you all for your good humour and kindness
